Opal 30th Anniversary Collection 4-Ply Sock Yarn

Opal 30 Jahre is a self-striping 4-ply sock yarn made to mark thirty years of Opal Pullover und Sockenwolle. It is spun and printed in Hechingen, Germany, by the same family workshop that still handles dyeing, steaming, washing and balling under one roof.

The yarn is a classic Opal blend: 75% superwash virgin wool and 25% polyamide. The wool gives warmth, bounce and breathability. The nylon adds the toughness and shape-holding that everyday socks need. Colours are printed so stripes, blocks and shifts appear as you knit plain rounds. No charts. No yarn changes. One ball does the work.

Each colourway in this anniversary collection names a stage in how Opal yarn is made, from first idea to finished ball. One 100g ball usually makes a pair of adult socks; larger sizes may need a second ball. Use it for socks, shawls, gloves, lightweight sweaters, or any project that rewards a long, printed colour run.
