Important Update on Shipping to the USA from The Needle Store
Dear valued U.S. customers,
We're advising you about the new U.S. customs rules, effective August 29, 2025, and we want to reassure you that ordering from The Needle Store will remain largely the same.
Here's what you need to know:
- The U.S. has removed the $800 duty-free threshold for imports. From August 29, 2025, all goods shipped to the USA, including your orders, will incur customs duties based on their value and country of origin (where they're made, not shipped from).
- For UK-made items, for example, a 10% tariff will apply. In other words, a $100 order will incur a $10 duty. A list of the tariff rates can be found here. If the country of manufacture is not on the list, then the tariff rate will default to 10%. This will include Nepal, where the majority of LYKKE products are manufactured.
- The good news is most of the products we sell will see a modest increase in cost.
What are we doing at The Needle Store to address these changes?
We're going to use Royal Mail's Postal Delivery Duties Paid (PDDP) service.
- Same excellent service: You'll still enjoy the familiar tracked postal service with the same labelling and tracking.
- We handle customs: Royal Mail calculates and pays duties to U.S. Customs on your behalf. We'll add the cost to your order automatically. There's nothing for you to do.
- Cost-effective: Royal Mail's postal service uses a negotiated, simplified tariff system, keeping duties lower than other shipping methods.
What does this mean for you?
- There will be a modest cost increase. We'll keep these as low as possible and automatically add to the final cost of your order.
- No extra work: We manage all customs paperwork, so ordering from us stays hassle-free.
- Continued reliability: We're working with Royal Mail to ensure your orders arrive smoothly, even with these changes.
